Organic meat of this quality is hard to come by! Every animal is either reared on our own farm or sourced locally with great care and attention.
Our butchery has come a long way from the late 1980s when, as pioneers of organic meat production in Scotland, we started our unique ‘meat days’ scheme and built up a following of remarkably committed and loyal consumers. It is now also a workplace where members of our community can develop skills in processing meat alongside our two trained butchers. We now stock a range of the finest quality beef, lamb and mutton, all of which is produced to organic or bio-dynamic standards and expertly butchered in our Farm Shop Butchery by our very able team of butchers. In the past, we reared and butchered our own pigs but our land, coupled with Galloway’s wet climate, caused too many issues. Currently, it is impossible to source organic pigs so we are buying in quality, free-range pigs to provide pork, bacon and gammons, which is the best available.

We are always experimenting with our range of sausages, burgers and puddings including our highly regarded haggis. We also stock local, wild venison, pigeon and rabbit from Barony Country Foods and free-range whole chickens from Packington Farm.
Our butchers are always happy to meet your needs, whether it’s half a lamb for the BBQ, a Rib Roast for that special occasion or a specific or unusual cut, please just ask at the counter or phone the shop on 01387 259669. The butchery counter is always well-stocked but isn’t manned on a Tuesday or Thursday, so simply leave your details with a member of the Farm Shop team and we’ll take it from there.
Our meats are sold directly through our Farm Shop but can be sent out by mail order if required. (Please phone to enquire)
